In
the short run, the best thing for the stock market is quiet
trading without major price moves. This is better than big,
fast, price moves up because big price moves in either direction
(up or down) are the result of highly emotional behavior.
Large price moves are also an indication that the markets
are being used as a speculative tool. We want the speculators
gone, and we want the emotions to be on an even keel.
Once the markets calm down, we can go back to the fundamental
process of wealth creation. This begs the question: what creates
wealth? The answer, to this writer, is change. Whenever a
new product or service is created that meets a previously
unmet need, wealth will be created. Change can be demographic-driven,
or product driven. We live in the fastest changing environment
in the history of mankind and the rate of change continues
to increase. The proverbial pie will continue to grow.
